At the inaugural Smart City Expo Kuala Lumpur 2025, innovation meets sustainability. As global and intermediary cities redefine urban intelligence, this event—driven by MDEC and Urbanice Malaysia under Fira Barcelona’s vision—embodies the synergy between digital transformation and sustainable development. A milestone moment for ASEAN and beyond.
My first day at Smart City Expo Kuala Lumpur #SCEKL2025, the first 🌏 edition of the Smart City Expo World Congress 🇪🇺, orchestrated by Fira Barcelona 🇪🇸.
Led by Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) and supported by Urbanice Malaysia, this event advances the twin transition combining digital transformation (#DX) with urban sustainability (#SDG11).
The 🇪🇺 spirit resonates throughout the exhibition, cities challenge and panel discussions: #smartcity is not only for global metropolises but also intermediary cities. The former often rely on “command-and-control” systems, while the latter build on horizontal platforms.
I was fortunate 🍀 to reconnect with many experts, including colleagues from last month’s mission workshop led by ERIA: Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia.
On day 3, this #ERIA’s study will be presented by Dr. Anbumozhi Venkatachalam, and I will also join the main stage as a #panellist on public–private collaboration.
This exceptional event marks a true stars alignment 🌟 in my professional journey in #Asia 🌏.
