Back in #Japan 🇯🇵 for The 13th Asia Smart City Conference(ASCC)/第13回アジア・スマートシティ会議 at PACIFICO Yokohama, organised by the City of Yokohama, Asia Smart City Alliance (ASCA).
#Yokohama is committed to halving #GHG emissions by 2030 and achieving #netzero by 2050. Highlighted by their first World Expo, #GreenxExpo2027, the city showcased its sustainable and economic ambitions.
Despite a smaller turnout this year, the focus included an African 🌍 delegation, emphasising a global perspective. The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), headquartered in #Yokohama, played a key role, spotlighting several urban projects in #Asia 🌏.
A standout session on #EVs sparked my interest, even without Nissan Motor Corporation’s presence. I learned about The Drivery 🇩🇪🇪🇺, an innovative #smartmobility network expanding globally, with a new Japanese branch fostered by the consultant Andy Kondo.
Networking was limited but fruitful, with meaningful exchanges with the 🇫🇷 speaker Tadashi Matsumoto of OECD Centre for Entrepreneurship, SMEs, Regions & Cities (Paris), Kenji Goda at GO Inc., a new #emobility startup in #Japan 🇯🇵, and representatives from #Indonesia 🇮🇩, including #Makassar and #Borneo, as well as from #Malaysia, #KualaLumpur 🇲🇾.
A great chance to reconnect with #Japan 🇯🇵’s unique culture – minimalist, formal and technical – where I worked for a decade. Stay tuned for updates on my upcoming business trip next week! 🌀✈️🌏
