My visit underscored the agency’s role in steering the nation towards a data-driven, collaborative future. With new legislation on the horizon, the promise of enhanced city empowerment and international partnerships looms, heralding a new era of global sustainability.
Returning to Kuala Lumpur, I’m gearing up for a workshop with Malaysian urban planners, focusing on sustainable urban development and SDG localisation. I’m excited to contribute my European expertise and town planning background to this dialogue, addressing governance, data-driven solutions, and capacity building. Together, we’ll explore avenues for positive community impact.
Today’s journey from Singapore to Johor Bahru’s Smart City Forum showcased the burgeoning ties between these neighboring cities, soon to be strengthened by the MRT’s RTS Link. This event underscored the region’s commitment to smart city development, highlighting the need for robust data strategies to complement top-down governance. Malaysia’s smart city trajectory is gaining momentum, promising an era of interconnected, data-empowered urban centers.
