During my three-day visit to Singapore, I reconnected with Siau Yong NG, a leading figure in smart city innovation. As the Geospatial & Data Director and Chief Data Officer at the Singapore Land Authority, his commitment to open innovation through Geoworks is inspiring. Our paths first crossed in Paris five years ago at EIT Digital, where we shared deep expertise. It’s a pleasure to maintain this valuable connection.
In Singapore, I met Syed Mubarak—an expert in ESG and SDGs. As Vice President of the Smart Cities Network_ASEAN, we discussed urban sustainability, digital platforms, and governance challenges. Our shared goal: IMPACT BY 2030! Our encounter at the Housing & Development Board’s expo marks the start of a transcontinental partnership. Europe and ASEAN unite for smarter, sustainable cities.
In the vibrant city of Kuala Lumpur, my network is flourishing. I’m engaging in expertise sharing and exploring potential collaborations in town planning, environmental solutions, and urban innovation. This journey is part of a broader commitment to sustainable development. A special thanks to Dr. Helena Varkkey for the introduction to Dr. Shahrul Nadzir and his dynamic team. Together, we’re forging paths for Europe-ASEAN cooperation, focusing on open innovation, startups, smart mobility, governance, and the Sustainable Development Goals.
