Yesterday, I visited #ExpoCityDubai — formerly the #Expo2020 site — now evolving into a fully operational, resilient urban ecosystem, aligned with #Dubai’s emirate strategy and the #UAE’s national vision for economic diversification and climate resilience.
Facing extreme climate challenges — from intense heat to sudden floods (2024) — #ExpoCity serves as a testbed for adaptive urban solutions:
• Climate-smart #infrastructure combining renewable energy, advanced cooling, and water management
• Digital #governance enabling data-driven urban management and innovation
• A multi-sector city #environment with residential neighborhoods, corporate innovation hubs, healthcare, and education facilities — a true city emerging from a former expo ground
#ExpoCity will host the 2025 Asia Pacific Cities Summit & Mayors’ Forum (October 27-29) — the first time this event takes place in the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia region (#MEASA). Its themes of #connectivity, #innovation, and #resilience perfectly echo #Dubai’s ambition to be a strategic hub and innovation gateway for sustainable urban development across the Asia-Pacific corridor.
This transformation is part of #Dubai’s and the #UAE’s broader economic diversification plan, positioning #ExpoCity as a geo-economic platform to attract global capital and talent, while fostering innovation aligned with the #UAE’s Net Zero 2050 goal.
In short, #ExpoCity is not just a redevelopment project — it’s a forward-thinking urban ecosystem, where #policy, #technology, and #community converge to build a sustainable, resilient city of the future.
