A month immersed in Bangkok revealed a city navigating the balance between globalized urban ambitions and grounded social practices. From its meticulously maintained streets to dynamic mobility systems and culturally hybrid retail hubs, Bangkok demonstrates a hybrid strategy of tourism appeal, consumer sophistication, and grassroots resilience — a model that contrasts sharply with other Southeast Asian megacities.
Visiting Expo 2025 Osaka revealed a striking mix of ambition and uncertainty. Beneath the architectural brilliance and corporate optimism, the event reflected Japan’s search for identity between technology and society, and the Global South’s struggle for modern narratives. The Expo stands as a mirror of our times—where spectacle often outshines substance.
