Attending the Clean Cities and Urban Development Forum 2024 (CCUDF2024) provided valuable insights into critical urban sustainability challenges, particularly waste management. The two-day event featured leading experts and industry pioneers discussing a range of topics from smart technologies for efficient waste management to circular economy and social innovations.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019m deeply grateful to CT Event Asia<\/a> for the complimentary #invitation<\/a> to attend the Clean Cities and Urban Development Forum 2024 #CCUDF2024<\/a> at the memorable M Resort & Hotel<\/a> \ud83c\uddf2\ud83c\uddfe. This two-day event gathers leading experts and industry pioneers to address critical challenges in urban #sustainability<\/a>, with a particular focus on waste management (including water).

My diverse background in #HSE<\/a>*, #urbanplanning<\/a>, #smarttech<\/a>, and #business<\/a> innovation aligns perfectly with the forum\u2019s focus on #SDGs<\/a> 11 and 12. The program covers a wide range of topics, from #smart<\/a> technologies for efficient waste management to #circular<\/a> economy, including social innovations.

Key highlights include:
\u2022 Integration of #IoT<\/a>, #AI<\/a> and #digitaltwin<\/a> in urban infrastructure
\u2022 Holistic approaches to waste management, including resource recovery and energy production
\u2022 Innovative municipal waste management strategies, involving communities
\u2022 Emphasis on local practical solutions and integrated policy frameworks

The caliber of professional speakers, including representatives from the World Health Organization<\/a> and industry innovators, provides diverse and insightful perspectives. In particular, I would like to highlight <\/a>Saibal D.<\/a>, CEO at Urbanetic Pte Ltd<\/a> \ud83c\uddf8\ud83c\uddec, who presented on optimising urban systems and processes for sustainable and liveable cities through the use of digital urban twins.

A crucial theme emerging is the need to \u201cwalk the talk\u201d – emphasising a shift towards political #leadership<\/a> with a holistic and integrated #governance<\/a> style. In my view, this #systemic<\/a> approach is essential for addressing deep sustainability challenges like circular economy or decarbonisation. However, achieving this effectively requires #decentralisation<\/a>, #capacitybuilding<\/a> and #enforcement<\/a> \ud83d\udc6e as fundamental enablers, and as demonstrated in hashtag#Europe<\/a> \ud83c\uddea\ud83c\uddfa.

As the forum concludes, I\u2019m left with a renewed appreciation for the #complexity<\/a> and importance of urban sustainability. It\u2019s clear that the field has advanced significantly, integrating cutting-edge technology with environmental stewardship.
This event has not only expanded my knowledge but also rekindled my interest for #HSE<\/a> principles, now seen through the lens of smart and sustainable cities, while leveraging my business leadership acumen from #MBA<\/a> studies.
