URBANICE MALAYSIA is at the forefront of Malaysia\u2019s journey towards sustainable urbanization, championing the SDGs and fostering transformative policies. My visit underscored the agency\u2019s role in steering the nation towards a data-driven, collaborative future. With new legislation on the horizon, the promise of enhanced city empowerment and international partnerships looms, heralding a new era of global sustainability.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yesterday, I visited URBANICE MALAYSIA<\/a>, a federal agency under the Ministry of local government development, which nationally advocates for sustainable urban development (#SUD<\/a>) and directly advises cities on #SDGs<\/a> localization. Their #COO<\/a>, Dr Mohd Rizal Osman, invited me to meet <\/a>Aliaa Mohd Nor<\/a>, knowledge platform and advocacy lead, and <\/a>Johan Sammy<\/a>, partnership development & funding specialist. The #CEO<\/a>, <\/a>Norliza Hashim<\/a>, is a #townplanner<\/a> and a very influential person in Malaysian politics \u2026

To my mind, #SDGs<\/a> based transformation clearly needs a new organizational approach. In #Malaysia<\/a>, the institutional move is quite impressive. A political framework<\/a> is in place under the Prime minister\u2019s department and policies\/budget are monitored by the Ministry of Economy, which has the leading role among ministries. However, it is still a challenge to review and meet the goals towards a true impactful transformation. Likewise everywhere in the world, #capacity<\/a> building is THE key for a great change \u2026

A rich discussion and nice insights on #governance<\/a>, cities #empowerment<\/a>, integrated public #policies<\/a> and the role of #data<\/a> driven solutions and open-source urban platforms. A new \u201cdata sharing\u201d law is coming soon \u2026
